March 5, 2004 – A seminar on the territory's new Micro-Loan Fund Program for current and prospective St. Croix small business owners will be held on March 12 in Frederiksted, the Economic Development Authority announced on Friday.
The free presentation will take place at No. 4 King Street, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those wishing to attend are asked to register in advance. To do so, or to obtain further information, call the St. Croix EDA offices at 773-2161.
The micro-loan program, which is available only on St. Croix, recently received funding in the amount of $2 million, an EDA release stated.
Seminars also are being planned on three other St. Croix small-business initiatives — the Frederiksted Loan Program, the Farmers Loan Program and the Fishermen's Loan Program, the release said.
All of the seminars are being presented by the Government Development Bank and the V.I. Small Business Development Agency, both of which fall under the umbrella of the Economic Development Authority.
Frank Schulterbrandt, EDA chief executive officer, said the joint mission of the agencies is "to accelerate the development and expansion of the local economy by allocating the financial, technical and managerial resources necessary for the success of local small businesses."
According to the release, "appropriate small-business seminars are also being planned for the St. Thomas-St. John district." The number to call for more information about them is 714-1700.
