EDC TO HOST CONSULTANT SEMINARS

March 10, 2004 — The Economic Development Commission, one of five units under the Economic Development Authority, will host two half-day Consultant Orientation Seminars geared to individuals interested in serving as consultants to companies receiving tax incentives under the EDC.
Nadine T. Marchena, acting CEO of the authority, said the seminar is being offered because there has been a demand for it on the part of many consultants in the Virgin Islands and has nothing to do with recent compliance problems with EDC companies. "This is something we've been trying to do for a while," said Marchena, who noted that the fourth compliance seminar for EDC companies will be held later this year in November.
The consultant seminars will open up on St. Croix on March 15 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Marina Room of the Tamarind Reef Hotel. The seminar will be held again March 17 at the Palm Courts Harbour View on St. Thomas. Starting time is once again 8:30 a.m.
The registration fee of $100 per person, which includes a continental breakfast, can be paid at the door.
The agenda will cover the following:
– How the EDC program benefits the people and
economy of the U.S.V.I.
– How the program is administered
– Properly completing the application process
– How to work with the EDC
Because of limited seating, Marchena urges all interested persons to register for the seminars by calling the EDC at 774-8104 or 773-6499, no later than March 12.
