Hospital Laboratory Gets Reaccredited

Aug 25, 2005 -After a three-day on-site inspection and survey early last week by the Joint Commission on Accreditation on Healthcare Organizations, Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital and Medical Center Clinical Laboratory has been re-accredited for another two years.
"I am very pleased that JFLH's laboratory has been re-accredited for another two years," Gregory J. Calliste, the hospital CEO, stated. "Although the entire JFLH goes through its own re-accreditation process, our laboratory also has its own re-accreditation process. Like the entire Hospital, JCAHO measures the laboratory's performance according to various national standards; however, although JCAHO was here to survey the laboratory, they could have also surveyed any area of JFLH…no area in the hospital was off-limits," Calliste continued.
"On behalf of the JFLH Board of Directors, I would like to publicly thank the dedicated staff and health care professionals of the Hospital for their hard work in making sure all health care standards are met and always striving for JFLH to become a model hospital and hospital of choice for the Caribbean," Calliste concluded.
According to a press release from the hosptial, passing these inspections gives an overall boost to JFLH's morale and pursuing its goals. This creates an opportunity for the hospital to receive federal funding and also contributions from philanthropic and community service organizations.
