Maritza Garcia Cruz Dies at 57

Maritza Garcia Cruz, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Dec. 26, 2024, at the age of 57. Born on Aug. 11, 1967, in Vieques, Puerto Rico, Maritza was a beacon of love, kindness, and strength to all who knew her. Her vibrant spirit and warm heart left a lasting impression on her family, friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey.

Maritza was a devoted mother to her children, always putting their needs above her own. Her nurturing nature and unwavering support made her the pillar of her family. She shared a special bond with each of her loved ones, and her generosity and selflessness were felt in every relationship she built.

A woman of deep faith, Maritza’s beliefs were an important foundation in her life, guiding her through the challenges and joys she encountered. She was known for her infectious laugh, her compassion for others, and her dedication to making the world around her a better place.

Maritza’s passion showcased her drive and commitment to making a difference. Whether at work, volunteering, or spending time with loved ones, she always gave her best. Her legacy of kindness and resilience will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Maritza is survived by her children, Jesus Figueroa, Safiel Martinez, Francisco Martinez, & Riely Flores (Sons), Karen Figueroa, Noemi Marinez, Violkaris Figueroa, & Nilga Martinez (Daughters), her grandchildren Fanchely Martinez, Giana Rodriquez, Amiliana Valcarcel Flores, Chanel Flores, A’shalii Felix, her parents Sara Cruz (Mother), Silvestre Huerera (Father), her siblings Edwin Lopez Cruz (Brother) and Elizabeth Garcia (Sister), and a host of extended family and special friends Luz Rodriquez & Norma Osorio.  

A service to celebrate Maritza’s life will be held on Feb. 6 at Alpha y Omega at Strawberry Hill, Christiansted St. Croix USVI, with a viewing beginning at 9 a.m. and Service Time at 10 a.m. 

Maritza’s love and light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by eternal love.
