Plaskett Renamed to House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence

Congresswoman Plaskett, who previously served as a Member on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) during the 118th Congress released the following statement on her reappointment for the 119 Congress:

“I am pleased to share that I have been selected to be a member of the House Permanent Select Intelligence Committee for the 119th Congress,” shared Congresswoman Plaskett. “The Intelligence Committee is charged with oversight of the United States Government’s Intelligence Community as well as our Military Intelligence Program, it is an awesome responsibility at a crucial time for our country and globally. I am ever grateful for the confidence Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries has placed in me to recommend me to be one of the select Democrats on the Committee. I am also thankful to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) who must approve all members of the Committee charged with oversight of our intelligence community.

Congresswoman Plaskett also shared, “With this week’s movement and changes of Republicans members on the Intelligence Committee, particularly with Mar-a-Lago weighing in on appointments, I recognize my reappointment to the committee as the confidence both the Leader and the Speaker have in my abilities to serve the congressional mandate for our most top secret and confidential matters. I would again like to express my gratitude to both Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Speaker Johnson for this bipartisan confidence. It is an honor to hold such a strategic position, and I am eager to start the important work of this committee.”
