The Honorable Ketanji Brown Jackson โ€” the first woman of African-American heritage to serve onย the United States Supreme Court โ€” assumed the position of Associate Justice on June 30, 2022, after beingย nominated by President Joseph R. Justice Jackson is the first former public defender to serve on the Supremeย Court.
During her visit to the Virgin Islands, Justice Jackson will be featured at several events in the territory. Highlights of her itinerary are expected to include a reception hosted by the District Court of theย Virgin Islands and the University of the Virgin Islands; events open to the public on the islands of St.ย Croix and St. Thomas; interaction with local high school and University of the Virgin Islands students;ย and an event with the federal and local judiciary. Additional details regarding the events will be postedย on the District Courtโ€™s website, www.vid.uscourts.gov, as they become available.
