Condolences Offered to Families Affected by Traffic Tragedy, Community Urged To Stay Safe on Roads

The teams at the Virgin Islands Police Department/Office of Highway Safety join the community in extending sincere condolences to the families affected by the week’s traffic tragedies. The community is asked to consistently exercise safe traffic behaviors, the departments announced.

“This has been an extremely tragic week for our community,” offered VIOHS Director
Daphne O’Neal. “Traffic violations like excessive speed, distracted driving, and failure to
wear seat belts inevitably result in tragedy. Safe traffic behaviors keep us, our loved ones, and our community safe.”

Maintaining safe speeds, adhering to the rules of the road and eliminating distractions while on the roadways will significantly reduce crash risks and improve crash outcomes. Traffic safety is a community responsibility that mandates full participation, according to the press release.

For more traffic safety information or to contribute to improved traffic safety in the territory, contact the Virgin Islands Office of Highway Safety through O’Neal at
