As the Tour de France concluded its final stage with a time trial, the Virgin Islands Cycling Federation also held a 10-mile time trial on St. Croix.

Twenty-one cyclists competed in the M2M Individual Time Trial, which started near Gallows Bay and finished near Sally’s Fancy. In a time trial, cyclists are released from the starting line at one-minute intervals. This racing format is commonly known as “the race against the clock,” according to the press release.

After missing several VICF races due to illness and fatigue, Elite cyclist Alex Betancourt bounced back well enough to post the fastest time of the event. His time of 28:06 was four seconds faster than second-place finisher Stephen Swanton. David Morales was the third-place finisher overall. Other top finishers were Norbert Prospere (Expert), Xander Morales (Sport), Ernst Schuster (Masters), Jody Goodrich (Women), and Randy Williams (Junior), the press release stated.
