The Virgin Islands Department of Labor (VIDOL) and the Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDOE) are proud to announce their successful participation in the JAG National Training Seminar (NTS), held from July 8-12 at the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel. This annual event serves as a premier professional development opportunity for members of the JAG National Network.

During this year’s seminar, the Virgin Islands Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG-VI) received the esteemed 6-of-6 Award from JAG National, recognizing outstanding performance across critical metrics, including on-time high school graduation, employment rates, full-time employment, total full-time positive outcomes, further education rates and connectivity rates. This accolade underscores JAG-USVI’s commitment to achieving excellence in educational and workforce outcomes for its students.

Additionally, Josette Illis from Ivanna Eudora Kean High School was honored with several awards from JAG National. Illis received recognition as a JAG National Peak Performer for Average Barriers Removed as well as JAG National Peak Performer for Average Contact Hours, and she was named Outstanding Specialist for Jobs for America’s Graduates – Virgin Islands (JAG-VI).

Further, she achieved the 6-of-6 Program Award for her school. Camelia Febres from Charlotte Amalie High School also achieved the 6-of-6 Program Award for her school, highlighting the exceptional performance and dedication of the JAG-VI team across multiple schools in the territory.

This year’s achievements were built upon the legacy of excellence established by JAG-VI. In 2022, the program was awarded the prestigious 5-of-5 Award for outstanding statistics based on JAG National’s performance metrics aimed at graduation and employment. Additionally, VIDOL received the “High Performer Award” in appreciation for 12 years of dedication, leadership and support of the JAG-VI Program.

“We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments of the JAG-VI programs at St. Croix Educational Complex High School, St. Croix Central High School, Ivanna Eudora Kean High School and Charlotte Amalie High School,” said Commissioner Gary Molloy of the Virgin Islands Department of Labor. “These awards are a testament to our commitment to empowering our youth and preparing them for the challenges of the future. We congratulate Ms. Illis for her exceptional contributions and commend the JAG-VI team for their hard work and dedication.”
