Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. has officially declared the week of June 23 through June 29 as Amateur Radio Week in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In a celebration of community service and innovation, Gov. Bryan acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the 150 ham radio operators in the Virgin Islands. These dedicated individuals have partnered with federal and local emergency service organizations to ensure effective communication during severe weather, natural disasters and power outages.

The proclamation of Amateur Radio Week is a tribute to the unwavering commitment of amateur radio operators who generously volunteer their time and resources. Bryan commended these operators for their vital support to local services, clubs, organizations and charities.

In a testament to their ongoing commitment to enhancing their communication skills, the amateur radio operators will be hosting a 24-hour emergency communications simulation known as “Field Day.” This event will take place from June 22 to June 23 at the Leatherback Brewing Company, RR1 BOX 9902, Kingshill, VI, 00820. All are invited to witness and learn from this demonstration of resilience and expertise.

Let’s come together to support and celebrate our amateur radio operators during this special week! Their dedication not only promotes safety but also highlights the spirit of community service in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Be sure to mark your calendars and join the festivities.
