Free Outreach Programs Offered in 2024 at Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in partnership with The St. Croix Sea Turtle Project presents seven free outreach programs on nature and local wildlife at Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge. Available programs include Sunset Watch, Turtle Tracks and Shells, Sea Turtle Scientist, Junior Sea Turtle Scientist, Meteor Shower Watch, Wings and Waves, and Discover Our Sea Turtles School Visits.
Sunset Watch is offered Wednesday through Saturday evenings, 4:45 – 8 p.m. in June and July.

Turtle Tracks and Shells is offered Friday and Saturday mornings, 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in June and July.

Sea Turtle Scientist is offered on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, Aug. 8 through Sept. 21.

Junior Sea Turtle Scientist offered in October by appointment.

Meteor Shower Watch is offered Aug. 11 for the Perseids Meteor Shower, Oct. 7 for the Draconids, Nov. 16 for the Leonids; December Date Nights on the 13 for the Geminids and 21 for the Ursids.

Wings and Waves is offered Friday and Saturday mornings in November and December.

A wildlife expert will lead a group on an outdoor adventure to learn about sea turtles, birds, seashells, trees, meteors and more. Form a connection with the local wildlife refuge to protect, conserve and enhance wildlife habitats and inspire the next generation of conservation leaders.
