In the wake of recent efforts to clean up Christiansted, it is evident that the dedicated individuals of VIFEMS have come to the rescue once again. These selfless men and women, who have made it their life’s mission to assist others, have stepped up to support their fellow Crucians. After three grueling days of street cleaning, the town has undergone a noticeable transformation in its appearance. However, this progress has prompted the Friends of Christiansted to consider more efficient methods to maintain cleanliness.
One potential solution that has been identified is the regular implementation of street sweeping using the new machines at Public Works. By dedicating one night per week to parking restrictions, it would also allow VIFEMS to thoroughly clean the streets as needed, ensuring that they remain tidy and presentable. This proactive approach would not only address the immediate issue but also prevent the accumulation of debris in the future.
In addition to addressing the cleanliness of the streets, it is crucial to tackle the problem of unsightly waste carts scattered throughout the town. These eyesores not only detract from the overall aesthetics but also pose a potential hazard.
To address this concern, Friends of Christiansted will be organizing a Town Hall Meeting that will serve as a platform to discuss and propose effective solutions. The meeting will focus on the aforementioned proposals of regular street sweeping and the trash accumulation issues.
It is important for all individuals who share a vision of a brighter future for Christiansted to attend this gathering and contribute their ideas and support. By working together, we can create a cleaner, safer and more aesthetically pleasing environment for all. The Town Hall Meeting in January will serve as a catalyst for change, providing an opportunity for constructive dialogue and actionable plans to be implemented.
Let us come together and forge a path towards a brighter future for Christiansted. Friends of Christiansted would like to thank Bombay Club and Shupe’s on the Boardwalk for feeding our men and women in uniform during these community efforts.
