Human Services Announces Closures Due to WAPA Water Pump Issues

The Virgin Islands Department of Human Services closed numerous divisions at noon Tuesday due to WAPA water pump issues affecting the St. Croix district.

The DHS Mars Hill Administrative Building, located in Frederiksted, and two DHS Head Start facilities closed at noon due to a lack of running water at their facilities, according to a press release. This closure will affect:

  • Division of Family Assistance, (SNAP, LIHEAP, LIWAP, TANF/JOBS) Mars Hill, Frederiksted
  • Medicaid Division, Mars Hill, Frederiksted
  • Senior Citizens Affairs Division, Mars Hill, Frederiksted
  • Frederiksted Head Start, Frederiksted.
  • Kingshill, Head Start, Kingshill
Regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for St. Croix residents will resume on Wednesday, the release stated.
