The V.I. Public Works Departments reminds residents of a bridge closure on Route 669 on St. Croix.
The bridge was inspected in January by the Federal Highway Administration and a number of structural issues were identified, the department said in a press release Thursday. As a result, FHWA has recommended the immediate closure of the bridge to vehicular traffic.
To ensure the safety of motorists, the department has barricaded the roadway and motorists must use alternative routes such as Walter I.M. Hodge Lane (Route 69), Paradise Road, Casper Holstein Drive (Route 65), Route 707 in Aureo Diaz, Cemetery Road (Route 663), and Route 75 North to access Upper Love, Lower Love and Grove Place communities, according to the press release.
It is unlawful for unauthorized persons to tamper with, adjust or remove warning signs, safety barriers or flashers, the release stated.
