A day after he had been reported missing by family, 85-year-old Oswald A. Small of St. Croix was found dead.

According to the V.I. Police Department, a surveillance camera captured Small driving his vehicle on surveillance video around 9:15 a.m. Monday near a residence in Estate Carlton. VIPD officers and members of the community conducted searches for Small with negative results.

At about 5 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to the report of a body in the water at Carlton Beach. The body of a male was removed from the water and confirmed not to have signs of life. The male was identified by next of kin as Small.

Police said the cause of death is unknown as of Tuesday evening, pending an autopsy and the investigation into the incident continues.
