STT Man Charged with Firearm, Marijuana Possession

Carlos Colon, a 26-year-old resident of Estate Thomas, was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with illegal weapon and controlled substance possession, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at around 4:35 p.m. April 23, officers on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a white Acura TSX, operated by Colon. During the course of the traffic stop, Colon was found to have a loaded firearm on his person, and marijuana was found in the vehicle. A firearms license check was conducted, and it was revealed that Colon did not have a license to possess a firearm in the Virgin Islands.

He was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of ammunition, and simple possession of a controlled substance.

Bail for Colon was set at $50,000, which he could not post. He was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections, pending his advice of rights hearing.
