Ian Stephen Benjamin Sr. Dies at 37

Ian Stephen Benjamin Sr.

Ian Stephen Benjamin Sr. of Estate Carlton died on March 2. He was 37 years old.

He was preceded in death by his father, Linroy Benjamin Sr.; grandmother, Pearl “Ionie” Carr; and brother, Linroy Benjamin Jr.

He is survived by his wife, LaDania Carrington-Benjamin; daughter, Amaryse Rivera; sons: Ian Benjamin Jr. and Ahmali Benjamin; mother, Marita Brewster; stepfather, Justin Roberts; grandfather: Alister Carr; sisters: Yvette Benjamin, Charina “Queen” Brewster and Shenique Martin; stepsisters: Mahalaya Milligan and Malayha Milligan; brothers: Steve Benjamin, Libert Benjamin, Adrian Benjamin, Kareem Benjamin and Lestroy Benjamin;  and nieces: Akima Benjamin, Asheba Benjamin, Asia, Amonique, K’nirah Benjamin, Neveah Benjamin, Laila Benjamin, Liyah Marshall, Tyanna Benjamin and Shyoraa Nisbett.

He is also survived by nephews: Raymond Codrington, Adrian Benjamin, Ashon Lincoln and Alijah George; aunts: Dianne Carr-Jacobs and Rachel Benjamin; uncles: Eugene Carr, Ivan Lewis and Davidson Carr; great aunts: Paula Lynch and Julie Liburd; mother-in-law, Paulette Mason; father-in-law, Dale Carrington; brothers-in-law: Dale, Shamaul, Erin, Naheem, DJante and Jamihl Carrington; sisters-in-law: LaDia Santiago, Dahlia Carrington, Leanna Carrington and Delani Rolle; uncle-in-law, Warren Jacobs Jr.; and godchildren: Axaiya Todman and Sai’Yosha Milligan.

Other survivors include special friends: Pasha Lincoln, Nasha Fontenelle, Icilma Weatherhill, Coconut Night Club family, Mutual Homes family, Hotel on the Cay family, Odette Gordon and family, Amy and Allysia Charlery, Virgin Islands National Guard family, Keitha and Karen Joyce, Cornelius Jn. Baptiste, Melvin Edwards Jr. and Wanson Harris (Wolf Pack); adopted aunts: Ermine and Kimn Bazil, Sonia Rantan and Roberts family; cousins: Taiyce and Taiyel Jacobs, Julie Lynch, Jamil Green, Channik, T’Niah, T’Sziah and Nazekiel Carr; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

 The viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Monday, March 29, at City of Refuge Worship Center. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery Veterans Section.

The family asks that all attendees adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines. Masks are required to attend services.

The family requests shades of royal or navy blue be worn in remembrance of him.
