Glucksberg Burglary Suspect Arrested on Warrant

The V.I. Police Department on Thursday morning arrested 20-year-old Khalid Smith of Estate Bellvue on a warrant charging him with the armed robbery of a home on Dec. 23 in Estate Glucksberg on St. John.

The arrest took place at about 5:30 a.m., Jan. 7, according to the report from VIPD. Smith was charged with first-degree burglary, using a weapon during the commission of a crime of violence, possession of an unlicensed firearm, petit larceny and possession of an unlicensed firearm within 1,000 feet of a school.

Smith was seen on surveillance video, armed with a gun as he entered an Estate Glucksberg residence on Dec. 23. He allegedly removed items worth more than $1,000 while the residents were asleep.

Smith’s bail was set at $100,000. He was not able to post bail and was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
