A third man was killed in three days in the Hospital Ground area of St. Thomas, the V.I. Police Department reported. The shooting took place Friday morning.

The victim was identified by his next of kin as 35-year-old Junior Akimo Freeman. It was the seventh homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 14th in the territory, according to the Source homicide list. The Source list is based on police reports, but unlike the police list and those in other media, the Source list does not include suicides or vehicular homicides, causing a difference in totals.

On Wednesday two men were killed in separate shootings, one early Wednesday morning, the second Wednesday evening.

At 8:07 a.m. Friday the 911 Emergency Call Center dispatched officers to Hospital Ground on a report of shots being fired. Officers traveled to the area, in the vicinity of the basketball court, and found an unresponsive male lying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. It was determined that the victim had no vital signs. He was later identified as Freeman.

Police urged anyone with information about the incident to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 extension 5606, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477.
