18-Year-Old Charged in Armed Robbery

The V.I. Police Department on Wednesday arrested arrested Tasheem Monsanto, age 18 of Estate Bovoni Apartments, and charged him in connection with a robbery that took place Feb. 2.

According to police Monsanto was charged with first-degree robbery, possession of an unlicensed firearm, use of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, second-degree robbery, first-degree assault, grand larceny, conspiracy and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

Monsanto was identified as one of four suspects in an armed robbery that occurred on Feb. 2 in Estate Mariendahl.

Bail for Monsanto was set at $75,000. Unable to post bail, he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
