Amorette Maria Simmonds, also known as “Amy,” of Atlanta, Georgia, died on Saturday, Oct. 13. She was 47 years old.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Leona Ross James; and cousin, Vernon James Jr.
She is survived by her mother, Sheryl George; father, Hugo Simmonds, Sr.; daughter, Makaelynn Matta; sisters: Christina Claxton and Rosalie Simmonds; brothers: Hugo Simmonds Jr., Gary Simmonds, Kareem Jones, O’Neal Jones and Charles Rawlins III; nieces: Kyara Haywood, Ashaunte Jones and Ki’Shaya Jones; nephews: Te’quan Rawlins, Shahiem Jones and Na’quan Jones; uncles: Rubio James, Vernon James, William James and Alonzo James; brother-in-law, Marvin Short; sister-in-law, Tamikqua Warner Jones; an godparents: Blanche, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sealy.
She is also survived by godson, Shawn Nixon; and special friends: Monica Brandy, Habibah Charlery-Bellot, Denise Turbe, Austin Rogers, Brenda, Beverly, Dr. Williams, Mr. Henry, Errol, Janice, Tamisha, Pringle, the Payne family, Rene, Tanya, Kera and the Thompson family; Dialysis friends: Karen, Debbie, Mary, Gerard, Jenelle, Steve, Mr. Parris, Mr. Browne, Lago, Carol, Mendez, Mr. and Mrs. Boston, Keshawn, Samuel Freeman (special friend), Ivy Beard, also known as Ms. B (special friend), Sylvester Lake (special friend), Jennifer McIntosh (special friend), Beverly Monsanto, Kim Monsanto and Earl Mitchwell.

The family requests that those in attendance wear festive colors.
There will be a viewing held at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 5, at Friedensthal Moravian Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
