Police Seek Black Toyota ID’d in Woman’s Traffic Death

Police are looking for a Black Toyota Corolla with exterior damage that was identified by witnesses as the vehicle that struck and killed 47-year-old Marie Luz Rivera Tuesday night on the Melvin H. Evans Highway.

According to the V.I. Police Department, at 7:42 p.m. Tuesday the 911 center received a call reporting that a female victim had been struck by a vehicle in the area of the west-bound lane on the Melvin H. Evan Highway adjacent to the Harvey Housing Community.

At the scene, officers found an unresponsive female victim lying on the roadway. The victim, Rivera, had died of her injuries sustained by the impact of the vehicles.

She was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital Morgue.

Police asked mechanics, body shops or anyone who has seen a a black Toyota Corolla with exterior damages to call the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340 778 2211, 911, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
