Man Killed in Clifton Hill Drive-By

A St. Croix man was killed and a teenager wounded in a drive-by shooting Saturday night in the Clifton Hill area, the V.I. Police Department reported.

It was the seventh homicide on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, the 29th in the territory. The victim was identified as 20-year-old Timothy Urgent.

At about 9:49 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to a report of gunfire. Arriving at the scene, they discovered spent casings in the roadway.

According to police, several people were on the porch of a residence when a vehicle drove up and began shooting, striking Urgent and a 16-year-old male. A private vehicle transported the victims to the emergency room at Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital, where Urgent succumbed to his injuries.

Police asked anyone with information concerning the incident to phone the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-712-6024 or 340-712-6037, the 911 emergency center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
