K-12 Registration for School Year 2015-2016 to Begin March 11

Public School registration on St. Croix for School Year 2015-16 will begin Wednesday, March 11, for kindergarten students only at the Division of Student Services located at the Theodora Dunbavin Complex in La Grande Princess (opposite the Honda Car Dealership). Registration: will be held from 8:30 a.m.to 3 p.m., Monday to Thursday, according to a press release issued Friday by the V.I. Department of Education. Students must be five years old on or before December 31, 2015 to enter kindergarten.
Registration will be conducted following the schedule below, based on the child’s Head Start Center:
• Wednesday, March 11th – Frederiksted and Prince Street Head Start Center
• Thursday, March 12th – Frederiksted and Prince Street Head Start Center 2
• Monday, March 16th – Marley, Campo Rico and Concordia
• Tuesday, March 17th – Marley, Campo Rico and Concordia 2
• Wednesday, March 18th – Mt. Pleasant and Estate Profit
• Thursday, March 19th – Mt. Pleasant and Estate Profit 2
• Monday, March 23rd – Christiansted and Richmond
• Tuesday, March 24th – Christiansted and Richmond 2
• Wednesday, March 25th – Richmond and Golden Rock
• Thursday, March 26th – Richmond and Golden Rock 2
• Monday, March 30th – Kingshill-Anna’s Hope Head Start Center
• Tuesday, April 7th – Kingshill-Anna’s Hope Head Start Center 2.
Children who are not in the Head Start Program will register April 8-9; April 13–16 and April 20-23.
Registration for grades first to twelfth grades (1-12) is scheduled to begin Wednesday, May 27.
To register a child for public school on St. Croix, the following documents must be presented where applicable:
● Official verification of the date of birth (original birth certificate or baptismal certificate)
● Proof of Court Appointed Guardianship (if child is not living with one or both natural parents)
● Social Security Card
● School Records:
– Final Report Cards for students entering Grades 1st – 9th grades
– Official Transcripts for students entering Grades 10th-12th grades
● V.I. Immunization Card
● Health Clearance form from the Charles Harwood Health Clinic (blue slip)
(Call the Charles Harwood Health Clinic at 773-1311, ext. 3256 for information on obtaining a blue slip.)
● Photo ID (Government Issued) of the parent/guardian registering the student
● Proof of Residency in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands (see information below)
Homeowners – Two documents required:
1. Signed closing statement or a deed or property tax receipt;
2. A recent WAPA bill
Renters – Two documents required:
1. Lease signed by both parties
2. A recent WAPA bill
If the lease is not available, a notarized Landlord’s Affidavit for Renters must be completed and returned with a rental receipt from the landlord, plus a recent WAPA bill.
When parent and student live with a friend or family member, three documents are required:
1. Notarized Residency Affidavit;
2. Lease signed by both parties or a signed closing statement or a deed verifying the residency of the friend/family member, or property tax receipt verifying the residency of the friend or family member;
3. Recent utility bill (e.g. WAPA) of the friend or family member.
