VIWMA Begins Sewer Line and Manhole Project Along Melvin Evans Highway

The V.I. Waste Management Authority advises St. Croix residents that the authority will commence the work of the rehabilitation of the sewer lines and manholes along the Melvin Evans Highway on Thursday, June 7.
The project will include the slip lining of the approximately 3800 linear feet of gravity-fed sewer line and the rehabilitation of 40 manholes. The project runs parallel to the Melvin Evans Highway from the intersection of the Highway and Container Port Road, traversing through the St. Croix Renaissance Group’s property, to the Anguilla Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Work will be performed in the right-of-way along the highway. The west-bound left lane of the Melvin Evans Highway will be closed during working hours, 7am-6pm, Mondays thru Saturdays. Lanes will be re-opened when work is not being performed. The work area will be marked with barricades and flashing lights when the crew is not on sight.
Motorists are asked to reduce vehicular speed and to follow the directions of any flag staff in the area of the project. Motorists are encouraged to utilize alternate routes during this time, if possible.
The work is expected to be completed by Sept. 30. This project is funded by the U.S. Department of the Interior.
