St. Croix Police have identified the 16-year-old who was found dead Monday in Estate Two Brothers, Frederiksted, as Jamal Richardson.
Police said Richardson lived in Estate Sion Farm with his grandmother, who reported him missing on Jan. 18. She said Jamal went to bed the night of the 17th, but when she checked his room in the early morning hours, he was not there.
Police said Richardson’s body had signs of “obvious trauma” when it was found inside a church building under construction in Estate Two Brothers.
Police have classified this incident as a murder and are following all leads in this case.
Several residents have already called police and Crime Stoppers with information in this case, the department said in a news release, but police still need more information.
