Services for Alva A. Swan Announced

July 19, 2005 – Funeral services for Attorney General Alva A. Swan will be held Saturday at the Memorial Moravian Church on Norre Gade. The viewing will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. followed by the funeral service. Swan's body will lie in state at Government House from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.
Acting Governor Vargrave Richards has ordered that flags on government buildings and agencies fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day. He also requested that flags on private buildings and homes also be flown at half staff during the same time period.
Swan, who died July 13, had been confirmed as the Virgin Islands attorney general in May after serving as deputy attorney general for 11 years.
Richards said, Swan was "greatly loved, admired and respected by all those with whom he interacted." (See "Community Remembers Swan, Grieves His Death").
