June 2, 2004 – Ishmael Meyers, a former territorial judge, and Lynn Falkenthall, an advocate for victims' rights, will be receiving Peacemaker Awards from the Family Resource Center this August.
Family Resource Center Director Michal Rhymer-Charles said the Peacemaker Awards are presented every two years to three people. The third recipient for this year's award has not yet been confirmed. She said the awards go to people "who have promoted peace and justice in a non-violent manner."
Former recipients include attorneys Edith Bornn and Douglas Dick, Fitzroy Williams, former law officer, and Corrine Lockhart.
Organizers are asking individuals interested in assisting with the Peacemaker Award to attend a meeting on June 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the Center on Bunker Hill.
A press release from the center said, "The Peacemaker Award is an opportunity to thank individuals in the community who have made a difference in the plight of those affected by domestic violence. It is also a major fundraiser for the Family Resource Center."
The awards will be presented at an event in August. Organizers need assistance in putting the event together. Please call 776-1884 to discuss this, or call Clarissa Belleau or Michal Rhymer-Charles at 776-3966.
