Jan. 18, 2004 – The Roy Lester Schneider Hospital / Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center 2004 calendar is now on sale to the general public.
For the first time the hospital has produced an annual calendar, and it features 12 professional male employees of the hospital.
"There is generally a lack of men who enter into the health care profession," said hospital projects administrator Bennie Acosta-Donastorg, in a release. "This calendar is an effort to encourage our youth to pursue a health care career."
Each of the 12 employees was chosen by majority ballot from their respective divisions, Donastorg said, and each provides words of encouragement for young men or words they live by.
Rodney Miller Sr., president and chief operating officer of the Schneider Hospital, said the proceeds from sale of the calendars will go towards educating local youth about pursuing health care careers.
The calendar also features facts about the hospital and advertisements from private businesses that helped defray the production cost.
The public can buy a copy for $10 at the Inner Wheel Gift Shop in the hospital. They can get their copy autographed if they come to the hospital lobby Thursday, Jan. 22, between noon and 2 p.m. For more information, call 776-8311 Ext. 2273 or 2292.
