Luis Garcia Dies at 80

Luis Garcia, lovingly known as Güísin, passed away peacefully on April 29th, 2025, at the age of 80. Güísin was born in Vieques, Puerto Rico, to parents, Chago and Margarita, on October 28, 1944. Güísin was later raised by his grandparents, Emilio and Natividad.

Güísin is survived by his beloved wife, Olga, four adored children, Sandy, Maggie, Junito, and Yoli, eleven cherished grandchildren, Omar and Khrysi, Isa and Gaby, Xavier, Miabella, and Ariella, David Jr, Teresa, Sandra Dee, and AJ, daughter-in-law Vanessa, sons-in-law Robb, and Anthony. Güísin leaves behind his 97-year-old mother-in-law, Seve, his aunt, Ana Luisa, siblings, Nereida, Dalia, Jose, Junior, and Willie, numerous nieces and nephews, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Güísin was a proud Army Vietnam Veteran, a member of American Legion Post 102, and a lifetime member of the DAV and VFW. He worked at the Department of Education as a Refrigeration and AC Engineer, building relationships as he traveled from school to school.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and those who had the joy of knowing him.

10:30 AM F’sted Pier

1:00 PM American Legion Hall (Peter’s Rest)
