Body Found in April Was Teen Shooting Victim

The Virgin Islands Police Department has identified the body found in the bushes east of Cramer’s Park on April 28.

Police said DNA testing revealed the remains to be that of 19-year-old Emanuel Moise. The cause of death was determined to be from multiple gunshot wounds sustained by the victim.

Moise was the 17th homicide in the territory since the beginning of the year, the seventh on St. Croix, according to the Source’s homicide list.* It will bring the territory’s homicides to 38, and St. Croix’s to 20.

According to police, at 6:51 a.m. on April 28 the 911 emergency call center received a report of what appeared to be a body being found in the park’s bushes. Officers responding to the scene found the body of a male, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

No form of identification was on the body.

An investigation continues into the matter. Police urged anyone with information regarding this homicide to call 911, the Crime TipLine at 340-778-4950, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS).
