The Department of Labor has scheduled double sessions on St. Thomas and St. Croix for the temporary and permanent government employees who were recently dismissed, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the V.I. Department of Labor.
The department’s rapid response teams have scheduled sessions to allow DOL staff to provide one-on-one services and alleviate a trip to the department. The rapid response team consists of individuals from various government agencies who collaborate to provide necessary services to residents during this difficult time. Attendees will be provided information about unemployment insurance options, retraining and development of new skills, emergency assistance, housing assistance, resume preparation; child support, healthcare, COBRA and veterans’ assistance.
“The department is taking steps internally to ensure that employees have access to the services they need during this difficult time of transition. The department also urges job seekers of the territory to take advantage of the services offered by the department,” said Commissioner Albert Bryan Jr.
The scheduled sessions are as follows:
- St. Croix, Thursday, March 29,at Gertrude’s Restaurant
- 9 a.m. to noon – Morning Session
- 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Afternoon Session
- St. Thomas, Tuesday, April 3 at Palms Court Harbourview Hotel
o 9 a.m. to noon – Morning Session
o 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Afternoon Session
