There will be a re-opening celebration of the Florence Williams Public Library Children’s Room will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, according to a press release from the Department of Planning and Natural Resources Division of Libraries, Archives and Museums.
Planned activities are: storytelling with children’s author Winifred “Oyoko” Loving; Sharon Charles, International Reading Council president; cultural storyteller and educator Ms. Janice Tutein; and a very special guest. There will be library card sign up, face painting, balloons and much more. The St. Croix Bookmobile will be available for tours and book check-out.
The Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge staff will have a table stationed in the library, along with a membership drive table sponsored by the Friends of the St. Croix Public Libraries. The Humane Learning Center will have a puppet show in the little theater on the 2nd floor. A used book sale for the benefit of the public library sponsored by the Friends will also be held in the library’s courtyard. This event is free to the public.
