Jan. 14, 2009 — St. Croix residents can now recycle cardboard, thanks to an arrangement with the Cost-U-Less warehouse store in Christiansted.
Scott Ramsey, the store's manager, has agreed to take flattened cardboard from the public and add it to what he regularly sends back to the States for recycling, according to a news release from the V.I. Resource Conservation and Development Council and the St. Croix chapter of the Recycling Association of the Virgin Islands.
"When you take your flattened cardboard boxes to Cost-U-Less, there will be a crate by the front of the store where you can leave them on your way into the store," the release said.
If you have cardboard boxes that are still in good, strong, and clean condition, you can bring those into the store and throw them in the cage for immediate reuse, Ramsey said, according to the release. For more information, or if you have a truckload of cardboard, call Scott Ramsey or Mekus Samuel, assistant manager, at 719-4442.
"Thanks to Ramsey and Cost-U-Less for helping to keep our beautiful island cleaner and our landfill a little less overflowing," the release said.
