Woman Charged in Fatal Stabbing of Toddler Son

Oct. 30, 2008 — Police have charged a 22-year-old St. Croix woman with murder in the Oct. 23 stabbing death of her 16-month-old son.
Amina Henderson, who police say has a history of mental illness, was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter, first-degree assault/domestic violence, possession of a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime of violence and aggravated child abuse. Her son was stabbed to death with a pair of scissors in Henderson's Estate Williams Delight home, police say.
Police arrested Henderson following her release from the Juan F. Luis Hospital, where she was placed for observation following the stabbing. Henderson's bail was set at $100,000 and she was remanded to the Golden Grove Correctional Facility pending her advice-of-right hearing.
