March 26, 2007 – Senator Shawn-Michael Malone wanted to remind the public, especially those with children, of the Department of Labor's Summer Employment Program, which has already begun accepting applications for this year.
"Several parents and their children heavily depend on the Department of Labor's Summer Employment Program for job opportunities during the summer months. I simply wanted to remind the public that the Department is currently accepting because I know information can sometimes be lost in our everyday routines," Malone explained. "This program is very important to our community because it gives our children invaluable work experience, builds solid work ethic and offers a level of financial stability and freedom. Parents, please don't delay to get your children signed up if they have not already secured a job for this summer," he added.
"We all know the Department of Labor only has a limited amount of jobs to offer, so make sure your children get signed up as soon as possible to give them the best chance for summer employment," Malone concluded. For more information, please contact Ms. Monica Gumbs at the Department of Labor at 776-3700, ext. 2081.
