Speak the Word, Stealers and Wyatt Heat Winners in Slow-Pitch Action

Dec. 14, 2007 — Speak the Word Ministries and Seaborne Stealers had easy wins Thursday night in the Bob Owens Slow Pitch Softball League at the D.C. Canegata ballpark, while Wyatt Heat had a slightly more difficult time.
Speak the Word 26, Dolphins 5
In game one, Speak the Word Ministries destroyed the Divi Carina Dolphins 26-5 in five innings. Speak the Word scored 26 runs on 32 hits and committed two errors, while the Dolphins had five runs on nine hits and also committed two errors. The winning pitcher was Ian Lewis; Roman Cruz got the loss. Top hitters for Speak the Word were Martin Charles, 5 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs; Carlos Morales, 3 for 4 with two home runs and four RBIs; and Jose Robles, 3 for 4 with one home run and five RBIs. For the Dolphins, Elizer Morales and Benjamin Robles both went 1 for 2 with a home run and one RBI.
Stealers 19, Forty Caliber 5
In game two, the undefeated Seaborne Stealers also won a five inning, 10-run mercy-ruled contest, blasting 40 Caliber 19-5. The Stealers had 19 run on 21 hits with two errors, while 40 Caliber had five runs on seven hits and two errors. Samuel Ramos got the win for the Stealers, while Steve Nisky picked up the loss. Top hitters for the Stealers were Enrique Soto, 2 for 3 with two home runs and five RBIs, and Guido Schjang, 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs. For 40 Caliber, Cantobal Encarnacion was 2 for 2 with two home runs and five RBIs.
Wyatt Heat 12, Cross Tech 6
Wyatt Heat took the nightcap 12-6 over Cross Tech, but they had a harder time in achieving victory than the night’s first two winners. The Heat had 12 runs on 17 hits and committed two errors, while Cross Tech scored six runs on 13 hits and committed three errors. Kennedy Feist got the win for the heat, while Bill Harris got the loss for Cross Tech. George Knight led the Heat’s offensive attack, going 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs, while Thomas Corcino was 2 for 3 with a home run and one RBI. For Cross Tech. Angel Guzman went 2 for 4 with two home runs and three RBIs, and Richard Sola was 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs.
