Jan. 23, 2008 – At their Jan. 9 meeting, the board of directors of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School elected Lorna A.C. Thomas to the position of chair.
Rev. Dr. George Franklin, president/principal of the school said, "I am very pleased that the board has elected Ms. Thomas to this position because the school is currently at a most critical juncture. This year we are up for re-accreditation, and we are also in the process of changing our administrative structure such that the positions of principal and president, which are now consolidated, will be held by separate persons. Ms. Thomas is very well qualified to be the kind of leader we need at this pivotal time."
A 1983 alumna of the school, Thomas received a BA from Princeton University and graduated with distinction from the Merrill Lynch Financial Advisor Professional Development Program in 2000. She has held numerous positions in the area of financial services with such firms as Merrill Lynch, Chase Manhattan, Margate Management LP and Island Global Yachting and has received several awards for her work. In the public sector she has held positions as special assistant to the governor and assistant to the VI Public Finance Authority (1991-94), senior budget analyst in OMB (1988-91) and executive director of the Community Foundation (1995). Currently, she is the director of the State Historic Preservation Office.
