Feb. 14, 2008 – International artists from all over the globe vie for inclusion in the Casals Festival of Puerto Rico, which is recognized as one of the world's great music festivals, and this year St. Thomas is the only venue listed outside of San Juan. This year the Forum will play host to the Mozart Piano Quartet. They will perform at the new Prior-Jollek Hall, Antilles School campus on Friday, Feb. 29.
Founded in 1997, it has performed at festivals and concert series throughout Europe, Australia and the United States. The quartet consists of Mark Gothoni, violin; Hartmut Rohde, viola; Peter Hörr, violoncello; and Paul Rivinius, piano. They will play pieces by Beethoven, Schumann and Richard Strauss.
The Sidney Herald of Australia said of the quartet: "They played music with passion and fire, paired with technical brilliance."
Tickets are $40 and $10 and are available at Reichhold Center for the Arts (693-1559), Dockside Bookshop, Interiors (Fort Mylner), Island Video (Nisky Center) and Home Again (Red Hook).
