Police Officer Exam Scheduled for June

May 16, 2007 – The Division of Personnel will host the St. Croix Police Officer Exam on June 22. All interested candidates must sign-up at the division's Orange Grove location by the established deadline, which is Wednesday, May 30.
To qualify, candidates must be high school graduates or possess an equivalency certificate, must be at least 20 years of age with no criminal record and must hold or be able to qualify for a motor vehicle operator's license.
Applicants who are P.O.S.T. certified will be waived from the entrance examination and the 26-week police recruit training program. Once hired, certified officers will attend and complete a four-week training program. The applicants post certification must not be under review for possible suspension revocation.
Once candidates successfully pass the test, they will be required to perform the pre-employment physical agility skills test, which includes: push-ups, carrying 80 pounds, dragging 150 pounds, and completing a half-mile run and an obstacle course. They must also pass a psychological and physical exam conducted by the Department of Health or a local physician.
All off-island candidates will be required to submit a money order in the amount of $100, made payable to the Division of Personnel, to cover the costs of express mailing the study guide. Once the study guide is returned to the division, there will be a refund of $80.
