June 17, 2002 St. Croix police continue to investigate the Friday night shooting death of George Anduze, 30, of Gallow's Bay, Novelle Francis, Territorial Police Chief, said on Monday.
"It's a possible retaliation," Francis said, adding, however, that police are still looking for a reason for retaliation.
Anduze died at Juan F. Luis Hospital following the 10:27 p.m. shooting in Christiansted's Times Square. Francis said he had suffered one gunshot wound to the head and one to the stomach.
"Two suspects are at large," Francis said. He described one of them as between 5 feet 4 and 5 feet 5 and in his late teens to early 20s. The second was described as about 5 feet 10 and in his late teens. Both are black with short hair.
Francis said there had to be many witnesses since Times Square was crowded at that time of night, but that none have come forward.
He said Anduze did not have a known occupation.
The Anduze killing was the seventh on St. Croix this year, the territory's 20th homicide.
Anyone with information on the killing is asked to call the criminal investigation line at 778-4950 or 911.
