ST. JOHN NOW HAS IT OWN FIRE INSPECTION OFFICE

Jan. 21, 2003 – Although the law requires that all businesses undergo a fire inspection to renew their licenses, things have been a bit lax on St. John due to the difficulty in bringing inspectors over from St. Thomas.
No more, says Fire Inspector Glenn Francis. The Fire Service now has an inspection office located at the Cruz Bay fire station. It's open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday through Friday.
"You'll have the same type of service as St. Thomas," Francis promised.
In addition to making appointments for fire inspections, the office also organizes fire drills, fire safety classes and home inspections, the Fire Service director, Ian Williams Sr., said in a release.
Francis said Deputy Inspector Leon Powell is the man on the job on St. John.
