April 20, 2004 – The Humane Society of St. Thomas Flea Market is now open to accommodate bargain hunters on Wednesday mornings as well as Sunday afternoons.
Hours are 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and 2 to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
The flea market is held in a building on the animal shelter grounds in Estate Nadir adjacent to the abbatoir. Proceeds from sales go toward caring for the animals that are available for adoption at the shelter.
Donations of clothing, books, furniture, household items and other merchandise in good order are always welcome. Items may be dropped off at the shelter, which is open during the day seven days a week.
For more information about the flea market, check out the Humane Society of St. Thomas Web site. From there, you can click to other sections of the site to learn about the shelter's programs, animals in need of good homes and the campaign under way to raise funds for the planned new animal care campus off Weymouth Rhymer Highway.
Information also may be obtained by calling the shelter office at 775-0599.
