Police Investigate Two Jewelry Store Break-Ins on St. Thomas

The Virgin Islands Police Department is investigating a burglary and an attempted burglary at two jewelry stores on St. Thomas that occurred over the weekend, according to the department.

Police said detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau responded to a report of a burglary at Optimistic Jewelry Design & Repair on Main Street after suspects broke into the business around 5 a.m. Saturday. According to the VIPD police report, the suspects entered the store, stole jewelry and fled the area in an SUV.

The following morning, officers responded to an attempted burglary at Valentines Jewelers on Raadets Gade at about 2 a.m. Sunday. Police said two individuals attempted to gain entry by cutting the business’s lock, but fled after the alarm system was activated, the police report stated.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity near Optimistic Jewelry Design & Repair or who has information related to either incident to contact 911 or the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211.
