Man Shot While Running for Cover From Shots Fired

A man was shot Monday on St. Thomas as he was running for cover after hearing gunshots, the V.I. Police Department reported.

At approximately 10:25 p.m., The Criminal Investigation Bureau responded to the Roy Lester Schnieder Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim, according to the police report.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was around Simons Alley when he heard several gunshots fired, causing him to run for cover. When he stopped, he realized that he was struck, receiving a gunshot wound to the body by an unknown suspect. The victim was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle for treatment, the police report stated.

The VIPD is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 extensions 5553, 5554, 5555, or 5556, Emergency services by dialing 911, Crime Stoppers V.I. at 800-222-TIPS or Directly to the Chief’s Office at 340-715-5546 or the Commissioner’s Office at 340-715-5506.

The VIPD assures that all tips will be kept confidential, and contributors can remain
anonymous.
