In March 16, the St. Croix Track Club took four athletes from ages 10 through 13 to attend the Association of Youth/Junior Athletics (AAJI) athletics league’s first of two qualification track and field events that was held in Cobo Rojo, Puerto Rico. Each athlete was allowed to compete in two events where the top eight in the lane events (50m through 300m), the top 12 in field events and the top 15 in distance events will qualify to attend the league finals in May.
Athletes who competed were Faith Eatmon, Malachi Maclorrain, Juvantia Hurst and Olivia Jones. Top finishers who may qualify for the finals based on the second qualification track and field meet are:
Malachi Maclorrain — 1st in 50m hurdles and 2nd in the 200m– 10/11 age group
Faith Eatmon –1st in 300m and 4th of 52 in the 80m dash –12/13 age group
Juvantia Hurst — 1st in 50m hurdles and 5th in the 200m– 10/11 age group
Olivia Jones— 13th in 50m hurdles and 21st in the 800m
