Wanted Suspect Arrested for Illegal Firearm Possession

A wanted St. Thomas man has been arrested on illegal gun charges, the V.I. Police Department reported Tuesday.

On Monday, at about 9:00 p.m., the Criminal Investigation Bureau took Jakel J. Bell, 29, into custody while at the Alexander Farrelly Justice Complex pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands pertaining to illegally importing firearms through Cyril E. King Airport, according to the police report. 

Bell was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, failing to report firearm, aiding & abetting (importation of firearms without a license), and conspiracy (importation of firearms without a license). Bail was set at $100,000, the police report stated.

This case is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Any persons having information regarding this incident are asked to contact Detective S. Rhymer or Detective R.
