Dorothy Doreen Iola Spencer Dies at 93

Dorothy Doreen Iola Spencer

Dorothy Doreen Iola Spencer, also known as “Vie” or “Viola,” of Water Gut Homes died on Friday, Dec. 2. She was 93 years old.

She was predeceased by her mother, Maud Lloyd; father, Jonathan Spencer; and sisters: Ernie Pharelle and Sylvia Edwards.

She is survived by her daughters: Pauline Sheridan (Aloma), and Florence Durant (Suzie); sons: Christfield (Mickey) Lewis and Charles Lewis (Expo); and grandchildren: Denise Henry, Carol Lewis, Diane Rogers, Ryan Watson, Shanon Sheridan, Nadine Lewis-Patterson, Mikeela Lewis, Alexis Lewis, Lawson Lewis, Akallah Durant, Brent Lewis, Kayla Lewis, Latoya Lewis and Tyler Lewis.

She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Naquan, Gyasi, Cheyenne, Taylor, Zia, Michael, Hector, Kaydence, Jayden, Julian, Jace, Cordell, Zyaire, Trayvon, Tevon, Devonta, Jose, Zaire, Noah, Hailey, Kobe, Mene, Kinaye and Antar; brother, Lawrence Spencer; nieces: Heather, Maryann, Bernadine, Judith and Joan; nephews: Ricaldo and Don; great-nieces: Cora Dalmau Estarda and Romeka Bergen; uncle, Labon Lloyd; daughter-in-law, Delacie Lewis; and son-in-law, Edgar Sheridan.

Other survivors include special friends: Gloria Joseph and family, Julie Thomas and family, Blondelle Lawrence and family, Laverne Robles, Sharon Dennis, Edna Tuitt-Meade, June Vanterpool and family, Ettiene Derrick, Eleanor Johnson, Greorgette Smith, Alma Roberts, Christine Greenidge, Carlos Melendez, Carmen Clendinen, Rena Brodhurst, Jens Skov and family, Wille Anderson, Raymond Bastian, the Pemberton family, the Water Gut Homes family, Christophine Hughes, Sylvia Henry and family, and Dahlia Brown-Romney and family; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

A viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 9, 2023, at St. Luke AME Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
