A Smith Bay man bit his ex-girlfriend several times on the body after punching her in the face breaking her nose, police reported Monday.

Thierry Louis, 22, was arrested at his home Saturday morning and charged with domestic violence, said VIPD spokesperson Glen Dratte. Louis assaulted the woman at Vessup Beach, also breaking her index finger, police said. He is scheduled for a court appearance Feb. 14.

On St. Croix, a 26-year-old man surrendered to police Sunday afternoon for gun possession. VIPD issued a warrant for the arrest of Raheem Matthew on Saturday after a search of his impounded vehicle allegedly turned up a firearm. Matthew was charged with carrying a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of ammunition, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
