VIPD Leadership Meets with DOT and NHTSA Administrators

ST. THOMAS, USVI – Police Commissioner Designee Ray A. Martinez and members of his leadership team met with Shannon Purdy – Deputy Regional Administrator, US Department of Transportation and Richard Simon – Regional Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Region II regarding territorial traffic safety issues.  As the Governor’s Highway Safety Representative, the Police Commissioner Designee intends to foster relations with NHTSA Region II by developing and improving highway safety plans and initiatives critical to the territory and the growth of its highway safety system.

“I am intent on revitalizing the Territory’s Traffic Records Coordinating Committee (TRCC),” Martinez stated. “The committee is a collaboration of government agencies inclusive of private partnerships created for the purpose of bringing about a multi-agency approach to create substantial change and support to our local Office of Highway Safety,” Martinez concluded.

All individuals listed as arrested or charged with a crime in this press release are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Bryan-Roach Administration is investing in the Territory’s people, infrastructure, and future through transparency, stabilizing the economy, restoring trust in the government, and ensuring that recovery projects are completed as quickly as possible. Visit transparency.vi.gov.
